Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,

Can you believe the 2018-2019 school year marks the 5th anniversary of Pepin Academies-Pasco! We have now been serving the Pasco community for five years! The 2017-2018 school year was a successful one. Our graduating class of seniors was 28 strong, over twice as many graduates as many as the year before! We once again achieved a “Maintaining” school rating from the state of Florida based on our student’s state assessment scores and we are shooting for “Commendable” this school year.

Last year, we strengthened our school attendance policies with the support of our school board to ensure our families make their child’s school attendance a priority. We decreased student passing time in order to add three additional minutes of academic instruction to our school day. This may not sound like much but over the course of the day, it adds up to 21 additional minutes of daily instruction. We expanded our tutoring program and will add more free tutoring opportunities this year.

As always, the safety of our students and staff is our number one concern. We have added a School Safety Officer who will be patrolling the campus daily to better protect our students. In addition to our Positive Behavioral Support System, we are adding Restorative Practices as a way to support the positive behavior and overall mental health of our students. We will have more information to follow throughout the year on this initiative. Look for a Parent Information Night on the topic of behavior at the beginning of the school year. We will also now have two on-site Mental Health Counselors to better meet the needs of our students.

We still remain intensely dedicated to bringing the vision and mission of the Pepin Academies to the families of exceptional students in Pasco County. The Pepin-Pasco Board of Directors continues to work diligently toward the goal of finding a permanent location for the Pepin Pasco campus. We hope for that dream to become a reality in the very near future. My plea to you is to join us in our efforts to help support Pepin Academies-Pasco in whatever way you can. Join our Pepin FIRST parent organization, join our School Improvement Team, become a volunteer, help seek community support…help us so we can support our students. Be a part of Pepin-Pasco! You are always welcome!

Sincerely,
Celeste Kellar
Principal
